No matter your age, there’s always plenty of excitement whenever the holidays roll around. And with the holiday season comes several exciting activities that are fun for the whole family. Get in the holiday spirit by exploring the different activities happening throughout Cincinnati this month! Pick a few you find interesting, and head out to participate in the holiday cheer!

Fountain Square Ice Rink

Nothing says winter quite like ice skating. Get outside, take in the cold air, and skate around at the Fountain Square Ice Rink. Plus, every weekend in December, Santa will hit the ice and join families for an hour as they skate around. There are skates for rent, plenty of snacks and drinks for sale, and a heated viewing area. Bring the whole family for a festive day trip!

Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo

No one can resist a solid display of holiday lights, and the Cincinnati Zoo has many for you to experience thanks to its 34th annual PNC Festival of Lights. There are 2.5 million LED lights adorning the zoo, and guests can view the animals, take a ride on the BB&T Toyland Express, enjoy a snack at a S’mores-n-More stand, and even visit with Santa. Zoo lights at the Cincinnati Zoo are open to the public from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Macy’s Downtown Dazzle

Also taking place in Fountain Square, Macy’s Downtown Dazzle features Santa rappelling down the side of the 525 Vine Building office to the Macy’s rooftop, all as a means of kicking of a fireworks display. The event takes place at 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 26, Dec. 3, and Dec. 10.

Cincideutsch Christkindlmarkt

The 5th annual Cincideutsch Christkindlmarkt is an ideal way to celebrate the holiday season. Located in downtown Cincinnati, this authentic German Christmas market features local artisans, traditional German fare, hot spiced wine, and much more. Do some holiday shopping or wander around with friends and family! The market is open every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas.

Santa’s Workshop

Get the full North Pole experience during the holiday season at Santa’s Workshop, taking place every Saturday until Christmas at Washington Park. Santa and his many elves will be working hard to make gifts, ornaments, and other items to be sure everything is ready to go on Christmas Eve. Bring your camera to take photos!

The Nutcracker from the Cincinnati Ballet

Between Dec. 9 and Dec. 18 at the Aronoff Center, you can catch a performance of The Nutcracker put on by the Cincinnati Ballet. Watch this classic come to life and introduce your family to a holiday tradition!

BRICKmas Holiday Display

Take your kids to experience the joys of BRICKmas this holiday season at Memorial Hall. LEGO lovers can take in large-scale LEGO displays, as well as interactive children’s areas where their own brick buildings can be created. Make sure to buy your tickets ahead of time for guaranteed entry.
