If an accident cannot be avoided, even with all of the Chevy Impala’s advanced features, Chevrolet still has drivers covered. The Impala is designed to protect cabin occupants in a crash thanks to the high-strength steel safety cage with strategically placed crumple zones that direct crash energy away from occupants. Every Impala is also equipped with ten standard airbags that include driver and front passenger frontal and knee airbags, roof rail side-mounted airbags, and a front passenger sensing system to help keep smaller passengers from being injured by airbags deploying with too much force.
The Impala’s smooth, responsive ride also helps to keep passengers safe. Thanks to the standard StabiliTrak stability control system with traction control and variable power-assist electronic power steering system, drivers have total control over the vehicle, even in challenging driving conditions. And should evasive maneuvers be needed the cornering brake control and panic brake assist features help to add a little more power right where drivers need it most, while the optional front automatic braking system can bring the vehicle to a stop quickly should the system sense danger, and the driver fail to react in time.
