For the Florence and Cincinnati drivers who refuse to take the path of least resistance and settle with a smaller alternative, the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe stands out as a capable and capacious traditional full-size SUV. From its roomy cabin and high-tech features to its impressive towing capabilities and improved fuel economy, the Tahoe remains a great pick in this segment. A notable alternative to the Tahoe is the 2015 Toyota Sequoia, but research shows that the Tahoe edges it out in many important areas.
While the words “full-size SUV” and “fuel economy” aren’t always considered side-by-side, the 2015 Chevy Tahoe has received some upgraded engineering to help it improve fuel economy this year, making it a more modest fuel drinker than the 2015 Toyota Sequoia.
The standard V8 engine on the Tahoe gets up to an EPA-estimated 23 mpg highway and 16 mpg city, very strong numbers for a full-size SUV. Meanwhile, the standard V8 on the Sequoia uses up a lot more gas, with the best possible EPA ratings at 17 mpg highway and 13 mpg city.
In addition to its better fuel economy, the 2015 Chevy Tahoe also performs when you need it to, letting you tow more weight. On a two-wheel drive (2WD) setup, the Tahoe is able to tow up to an impressive 8,600 pounds, and that number only drops to 8,400 pounds on a four-wheel drive (4WD) drivetrain. Unfortunately, the 2015 Toyota Sequoia tops out at only 7,400 pounds on 2WD, and that number drops to just 7,100 with 4WD.
Keep you and your family safer inside the 2015 Chevy Tahoe with a number of advanced safety features. The Tahoe comes with some of the most advanced driver assist safety functions in the industry today, including standard rear parking sensors and a standard rearview camera. Other available tech includes:
- Front parking sensors
- Forward collision warning
- Lane-departure warning
- Rear cross-traffic alert
- Blind-spot monitoring
While the 2015 Toyota Sequoia also comes with a standard rearview camera, parking sensors, and available blind-spot monitoring, none of the other advanced safety tech mentioned above is available on this model.
As part of the advanced Chevy OnStar telematics system, every trim level on the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe comes with a standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot that lets drivers and passengers use the internet and stream video on up to seven devices at once without using up expensive data plans. The 2015 Toyota Sequoia doesn’t offer this feature at all.
