2014_Chevrolet_Silverado_1500With its full redesign, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, which is now available at Tom Gill Chevrolet in Florence, KY, sets the bar very high for the competition. As a premier Chevy dealer near Cincinnati, we have to admit that this new edition of the signature Chevrolet pickup is simply the finest we’ve seen yet. Reengineered to be smarter, more powerful, and more capable than ever before, the new Silverado also lays claim to providing the best fuel economy of any competing V8 pickup. It’s no wonder that this truck is considered among the top vehicles in its class. Take a look at how it compares to the 2014 Toyota Tundra.

Outstanding Performance

A powerful engine and dependable performance is what drivers want out of a full-sized pickup, and the 2014 Silverado does not disappoint.

You have a choice between 3 efficient EcoTec3 engines with the new Chevy pickup: a robust 4.3L V6, and a brawny 5.3L V8, and a muscular 6.2L V8. The latter is the most powerful V8 engine Chevy has ever built for a full-sized, light-duty pickup.

All engines feature direct injection, continuously variable valve timing, and Chevy’s own Active Fuel Management. Fuel economy for the V6 is an EPA estimated 18 mpg city/24 mpg highway, while the V8 boasts a remarkable best-in-class 16 mpg city/23 mpg highway. The 6.2L V8 has yet to be rated by the EPA.

The Tundra offers 3 engines: a 4.0L V6, a 4.8L V8, and a 5.7L V8. EPA estimates are only available for the two V8 engines, with the 4.8L returning 15 mpg city/19 mpg highway, and the 5.7L V8 managing 13 mpg city/18 mpg highway.

Solid performance plus excellent fuel economy makes the Silverado the obvious stand-out.

A Full Menu of Standard Features

Both pickups come with an array of standard features, including:

  • Cruise control
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Driver info and audio display screens
  • Satellite radio

Some of the latest safety equipment and features are included with both trucks, but only the Silverado adds front seatbelt pretensioners, rear child-safety locks, and an engine immobilizer.

When it comes to vehicle safety systems, the Chevy takes the edge against the Toyota.
