One of the consequences of leading the nation is that you are essentially barred from driving due to safety concerns. That has been especially hard on Vice President Joe Biden, who owns a pristine 1967 Chevy Corvette. Since taking office, he has only been able to get behind the wheel three times. He was lucky enough to get a fourth opportunity during a recent taping of the car show, “Jay Leno’s Garage.” The episode is scheduled to air on Nov. 9, and will be must-see TV for Chevy Corvette enthusiasts.

A Vice President and His Car

Vice President Biden has owned his Corvette for more than 40 years, since his father-in-law gave it to him as a wedding gift. His sons recently had the engine replaced as a Christmas present, and the car looks and drives like it’s brand new.

In a promotional video for the upcoming Jay Leno episode, Biden is seen doing a burnout as soon as he starts the engine, no doubt relishing the opportunity to once again push an iconic muscle car to the limit. He then proceeds to take it for an athletic tour of the driver training facility operated by the secret service. Host Jay Leno often has a look of shock and surprise on his face. Biden is all smiles.

The 1967 Chevy Corvette

The 1967 Chevy Corvette wasn’t just a great car for its time—it is one of the greatest cars ever made. It shows off the sleek and stylish looks that the latest Corvettes are modeled after, but in a design that is distinctly of its time. A variety of engine options were available, with one standout delivering 435 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This was the last Corvette of its generation, and it exudes refinement both inside and out. That is probably why it remains the best-selling Corvette of all time.

The 1967 Chevy Corvette is a true collector’s car, but the 2017 version is just as impressive in many ways. It has unmistakable style, a cabin built for drivers, and an engine that puts out up to 460 hp and can reach 60 mph in only 3.7 seconds.
